Whilst requiring considerable skill in construction, these swaged stainless steel bases are strong, light and only 0.5 - 0.7 mm thick. Comparable in cost to castings, they have, over 50 years, proved comfortable and readily acceptable to the patient.

With experience and adequate equipment swaged Magnus Metal plates can be accurately deep drawn and are especially useful when irritation may be caused from excessive reproduction of mucosal detail by the casting process.

Time honoured techniques are used to work up the best properties in the steel without overstrain. Backings, strengtheners and readily adjustable clasps are not only welded but flushed with a high precious metal content white solder.
